The Dream Tune

For the past few days, I have been given the job to compose a theme song for a new kids' show on TV. "Great!", so i thought... But for the past 2 days... I kind of got stuck with the song. I wasn't able to move on and not able to even find a proper melody to this stupid song of mine... *annoyed*

Anyway... Since today is my due day, i really hoped it would work out. And strangely enough, i managed to finish on time. How? Thanks to my dream, which goes like that...

This morning, i dreamt that i was working on my song. Suddenly this tune got written in my dream. I could even hear it. It was perfect. Simple and catchy. Just what i needed it to be. During my dream, i told myself (or my subconscious) to remember the tune.
The moment i woke up, i knew i had to remember the tune, but i forgot it. I just sat there on my bed and i told myself, that it's going to be one more aspirational day... again! That really annoyed me... again.

When i got to work, i switched on the computer, the speakers and everything to start working on that song again. I opened the file and just played back the song. I muted a few tracks, thinking that i can start with something new. I played around with a few melodies and instruments, wondering which one i should use. And a few hours later, i realized that the song was done!

Through out my so-called "playing around", i managed to put in a melody, make it sound rock-pop enough for 15-18 years old kids and that with such an ease!! It was just amazing.

I am now wondering whether or not this is the melody that was playing in my dream this morning though. I just wish that i could have more dreams like that. My work would be faster and more creative than wasting my time and energy creating some cheesy shitty stuff 3 days in a row......!
